ü       There is a new GM working for Ovations; she has experience in the food service industry

ü       We discussed with Steve the following ideas:

Having a player at the Fan Club table signing autographs

Having a Fan Club Player of the Half

Having a Front Office staff of the year

Raffling a baseball opening night (Steve asked that we work through Norb)

GENERAL BUSINESS:

§         Gil asked for a motion to approve having a player of the half.  The Fan Club members would cast

ballots for this award.  The player would receive a trophy and a $50 gift certificate to a restaurant.

The second was made and the motion was approved.

§         A motion was made seconded and approved to have a Front Office person of the season.  This person

would be voted on by the Fan Club membership.  The person would be given a $50 gift certificate to a

restaurant of their choice.

§         The Showcase (former Fan Fest) was discussed.  We need someone to run it since Kenny, who has done this

for since the inception, has resigned.  Kenny and Gil will help the person who volunteers.  If we can’t get

someone to take on the responsibility, the Fan Club will not participate.  Last year the Fan Club made about

 $400.

§         Gil and Joyce are in Florida when the March meeting is scheduled.  It was agreed by the members present

that the meeting would be re-scheduled for Thursday, March 10 at 7 PM at the ESB Hall of Fame.

§         Gil and Joyce are taking packets to Florida that will be given to the players.

TRIPS:

Joyce volunteered to arrange any trips the members would like to take.  It was suggested that we look into going to Norfolk or Richmond to see a Triple A game.  We also discussed taking a caravan to Bowie instead of getting a bus.

The Front office volunteered to help us get tickets.  We could meet at the stadium.  Other suggestions were made:  Wilmington, All Star game at Frederick

FAN CLUB TABLE:

Baseball pins will be added to the items on sale at the Fan Club table.  Charlie Silcott will order them.  We need

members to sit at the table for the first three innings of each home game.  A calendar will be provided for sign ups.

If each member would sign up for one game, no one would have to be there more than one time.

ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS:

Pat Welch suggested having a general meeting in the summer, perhaps before the All Star break.

Pat also suggested having a tailgate party before a game or have a picnic when the team is away.

Pat is doing snacks bags for the players again.  She needs donations of individually wrapped snacks.

A $100 savings bond will be sent to Shane and Robin Griffin’s new baby as soon as we receive information from

 the parents.

A card will be sent to Gary Cates and his wife congratulating them on the birth of their baby.
